Advantages of Ductless Mini-Splits

Mini-split systems are small and flexible.

In most cases, many models have as many as four indoor air-handling units. These cover up to four rooms or ‘zones’. The number of units you’ll need will depend on how much heating and cooling you need for each zone and how well your home is insulated. Every zone (room) has its own thermostat so you can control the temperature zone by zone, which will save you money when it comes to your energy bill.

Mini-splits are easier to install vs. other types of units made to do the same thing.

The hook-up needed to connect the indoor and outdoor units usually only requires a small, three-inch hole through the wall. You can also have the outdoor unit located as far as fifty feet away from the indoor unit!

Mini-splits are ductless so you can avoid energy losses associated with ductwork.

Losses in ducts account for more than 30% of energy consumption, especially if the ducts are located in an unconditioned space like an attic.

The indoor air-handlers of the mini-splits can be mounted into a drop ceiling, suspended from the ceiling, hung on the wall, or free standing, since floor models are available.

Most of the indoor air units have a very sleek design and are about eleven inches deep. Many models also come with a remote control so you can turn the system off and on when it’s positioned higher on your wall or on your ceiling.

The best advantage of installing a ductless mini-split is that the cost of adding air-conditioning to your home can be less than half as some other systems!

Mini-splits also have a significantly lower operating cost. Rebates and other incentives may also be offered on certain models to help with the installation expense as well!
